If you want to step away from Lewdden for a while or close your fan account for good, this guide covers what each option does to your purchases, your wallet balance, your active subscriptions, and the data we hold on you.
1) Two options at a glance
- Just sign out and stop using it. No action needed. Your account stays intact for whenever you want to come back. Existing subscriptions keep renewing on schedule (cancel them first if you don’t want that — see §3).
- Close the account permanently. Subscriptions are cancelled at the end of the current cycle, your wallet balance is released back to you, your purchase access is wound down, and the account is closed. There isn’t a self-serve “close my account” button on the storefront — closing happens via support so we can make sure your money lands back with you.
2) What you can do yourself before deciding
Before asking for a close, these are the things you can do from your own /my-account/ pages:
- Cancel any active subscription — the storefront’s Subscriptions tab has a Cancel button on each one. See Cancelling a subscription. Cancelled subs keep working until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.
- Empty your wallet by spending it — the cleanest way to retire a balance is to use it. Buy a clip, tip a creator you’ve enjoyed, top up an existing subscription’s wallet payment.
- Update your email address if you’ve changed inboxes — see the equivalent customer flow at
/my-account/edit-account/. The same form works for fan accounts. - Download anything you bought that’s downloadable — see Buying a clip, §4. Your My Library link stays available as long as your account is open.
Most fans who think they want to close just need one or two of the above — usually cancelling a subscription is the real ask.
3) How a close works
Open a ticket from Contacting support under Account & login. Tell us:
- That you’d like to close the account.
- What to do with any active subscriptions: cancel-at-end-of-cycle (the default) or cancel-immediately-with-pro-rata-refund-where-allowed.
- How to handle any wallet balance you still have (refund to original payment method where supported, or transferred to a one-off payout).
The sequence we run:
- Confirm with you on the ticket. We don’t act on a close request until you’ve confirmed it after the first reply.
- Cancel any active subscriptions per your instructions.
- Refund or release your wallet balance to the original payment method where the gateway supports it, or via a manual one-off transfer where it doesn’t.
- Wind down purchase access — your My Library access stays available for 30 days after we begin the close, so you can download anything downloadable. After 30 days, the access link is removed.
- Close the account — your sign-in is disabled, your storefront-side avatar / display name are removed, and your account record is marked closed.
Total time from request to closed: typically 2–4 weeks, mostly waiting for refunds to clear and the My Library grace window.
4) What happens to your data after close
- Your purchase records, payment receipts, and order history — kept for 7+ years per EU tax / accounting law. We can’t delete these even if asked; the obligation is on us to keep them. Buyers’ historical orders are still visible to the buyer in their account during the close window for downloading copies.
- Your messages with creators — your side of the message threads stays intact for the creator (creators have a record-keeping right over conversations on their storefront, the same way a shop keeps copies of its customer correspondence). Your account-side view goes when the account closes.
- Your reviews / public posts — anonymised (the display name is replaced with “Former user”) and left in place to preserve thread context.
- Your fan profile, avatar, follow list, wallet history — removed.
- Your email address — released. The same address can register a new account later.
For the wider data picture (what we keep at any time, what you can request, the GDPR rights), see Your data on Lewdden.
5) What you might lose by closing
- Active subscriptions — once cancelled, you’d have to re-subscribe to get the subscriber-only content again.
- Purchased clips you didn’t download — after the 30-day My Library grace, you no longer have a re-download path. Downloadable clips you saved locally remain yours; streaming-only access to clips ends with the close.
- Tip / message history with creators you liked — the relationship resets to zero on the buyer side.
- Any unspent wallet balance you don’t claim — we’ll always offer a refund route, but if you skip the question or the original payment method can’t accept refunds, an unclaimed balance is forfeited after the close completes. The way to avoid this is to cleanly answer the wallet question on the support ticket.
6) FAQ
Q: Can I close immediately, today?
We can hide your storefront-facing presence today and pause access. The full data wind-down (refunds, grace window, account close) still takes 2–4 weeks for the reasons above.
Q: I just want a break, not a close.
Cancel any subscriptions you don’t want renewing, sign out, and come back when you want. Your account isn’t going anywhere — there’s no inactivity-deletion clock.
Q: I forgot which email I used. Can I still close?
Yes. Open a ticket from any working email and explain — we can match you up with verifying details (last purchase amount, last creator subscribed to, the card type used, etc.). Don’t share the password with anyone, ever.
Q: A creator made me uncomfortable. Should I close my account or report them?
Report first. Closing your own account doesn’t act on the creator. See Reporting a creator or piece of content — that goes straight to our safety team and is the right path.
Q: I bought a clip I no longer want — can I just remove that one and keep the account?
There’s no purchase-removal feature. The clip’s record stays in your order history (we’re required to keep it). If the clip violated content rules, report it via the support form and our team will look at it.
Q: My partner shares my account. Can we close just my “side”?
Accounts are single-user from our side. If you want one of you to leave with a clean break, the other should open a fresh account and migrate their subscriptions there before closing the shared one.
Q: I’m being charged for something I didn’t subscribe to.
Don’t close — open a support ticket under Wallet & payments with the charge details. Closing wouldn’t undo a charge dispute. We’d much rather investigate than let an erroneous charge stand.
Need more help
To start a close, open a ticket under Account & login at Contacting support with the three answers from §3 (cancel-now or cancel-at-end-of-cycle, wallet refund choice, anything else you want noted). We typically respond within one working day.
