Lewdden works in any modern browser, on desktop or mobile, with no app to install. This guide is the practical checklist of what works well, what’s required for live streaming, and the small list of things to avoid.
1) Quick recommendations
- For watching, browsing, buying, and chatting — any modern desktop or mobile browser updated within the last 12 months. Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge all work.
- For going live as a creator — desktop Chrome, Firefox, or Safari with camera and microphone permissions allowed, on a wired or strong Wi-Fi connection.
- For identity verification (creator side) — desktop or mobile, both work. The flow gives you a QR code if you want to switch from desktop to your phone for the camera step.
2) Minimum browser versions
The platform is built around modern web standards (the same ones used by every major site). Practical minimums:
- Chrome / Edge — version 90 or newer (Apr 2021).
- Firefox — version 90 or newer (Jul 2021).
- Safari — version 14 or newer (Sep 2020). On iOS that means iOS 14 or newer.
- Android Chrome / Samsung Internet — Android 8 or newer with the browser kept updated.
Older browsers may still load the site but you’ll likely hit issues with video playback, live streaming, or the chat UI. If the site looks visibly broken (missing buttons, blank video player, infinite spinners), updating the browser is the first thing to try.
3) Hardware basics
- Bandwidth (watching). 5–10 Mbps comfortably handles HD playback. Lower bandwidth still works — the player adapts down to keep the stream smooth.
- Bandwidth (going live). 5 Mbps stable upload is the practical minimum for HD outbound; 10 Mbps gives you headroom for spikes. Wired ethernet is strongly preferred over Wi-Fi for live streaming.
- Camera. Any USB webcam, laptop camera, or phone camera that the browser recognises works. The platform doesn’t require a specific brand or model.
- Microphone. The webcam’s built-in mic, a USB mic, an XLR mic via interface — anything the OS exposes to the browser. Better mics make a bigger difference for stream quality than better cameras.
- Disk space. No big requirements. Clip uploads are streamed straight to our storage from the upload page; the browser doesn’t pre-buffer anything significant locally.
4) For going live — the must-haves
- A modern desktop browser. Chrome, Firefox, or Safari on Mac / Windows / Linux. The studio uses WebRTC, which all three support.
- Camera + microphone permissions allowed for lewdden.com in your browser settings. The first time you click Go live, the browser prompts; if you accidentally clicked Block, you have to fix it in the browser site-settings before the studio will work.
- A stable upload connection. Wired ethernet is the safest. If you’re on Wi-Fi, sit close to the router; mesh nodes are usually fine. Mobile-tethered hotspots work but are typically wobbly enough that drop-frames are common.
- Don’t have other heavy apps competing for the camera while live (Zoom, OBS, Discord screen-share with camera). The browser needs exclusive camera access.

5) Mobile specifics
- Watching streams + playing clips works in mobile Safari (iOS) and mobile Chrome (Android). The video player auto-scales to portrait.
- Buying and subscribing works on mobile.
- Chatting works on mobile (desktop has more screen space but the mobile UI is fully featured).
- Going live from a phone isn’t supported in the same way as desktop yet — there’s a P2 backlog item for a polished mobile-broadcast flow. For now, use desktop for going live.
- Identity verification works fully on mobile and many people prefer it (the camera step is easier with a phone).
6) Settings to check if something isn’t working
- Cookies enabled for lewdden.com — required for sign-in. Without cookies, you’ll get bumped to the sign-in page on every action.
- JavaScript enabled. Pretty much every interactive part of the site needs JS (the player, chat, live page, checkout). If you’ve disabled JS for lewdden.com, re-enable it.
- Pop-ups not aggressively blocked. The verification flow opens a small in-page frame; some pop-up-blockers count it as a pop-up and silently kill the launch. Allow pop-ups for lewdden.com.
- Camera/microphone permissions allowed — only relevant if you’re going live or doing identity verification. Otherwise no permissions needed.
- Tracking-protection / “strict” privacy modes. Some browsers’ strict-tracking-protection modes block our age-verification cookie or break the chat real-time updates. If something’s odd, try the same flow in a fresh private/incognito window — if it works there, it’s a browser-extension or strict-mode issue.
7) Browser extensions that commonly cause issues
- Ad blockers — usually fine on Lewdden (we don’t run ads), but some over-eager rules block our chat polling or media-uploader. If something silently breaks, try disabling ad-block on lewdden.com to confirm.
- Privacy extensions (Privacy Badger, Ghostery, similar) — same risk pattern as ad blockers.
- VPNs — generally fine. If a payment fails, sometimes the VPN-exit-IP doesn’t match the card’s billing country and the bank declines for fraud-protection reasons. Try the payment without the VPN if a charge mysteriously declines.
- “Tab suspender” extensions that pause inactive tabs — these can break long-watching live streams. Whitelist lewdden.com if you use one.
8) FAQ
Q: Is there a desktop or mobile app?
No native app. The site is the app — fully responsive on mobile and feature-complete on desktop. We deliberately don’t ship native apps yet because the web experience is consistent and doesn’t require an install / update cycle.
Q: Internet Explorer?
No. IE is out-of-support globally and we don’t test against it. If you’re on IE for any reason, switch to Edge (which Microsoft made the IE replacement).
Q: Can I watch on a smart TV or game console browser?
Smart-TV and console browsers vary widely in what they support. Some work for plain page browsing; many can’t handle the live-room player. If it doesn’t work on your TV browser, screen-mirror from a phone or laptop instead.
Q: My screen reader / keyboard navigation isn’t perfect on the site.
Accessibility is an active area we keep improving. If you hit something specific that’s blocking you, please report it via support with the page URL and the action you were trying to perform.
Q: I can watch clips but live streams are choppy.
Live is more bandwidth-sensitive than VOD playback. Try a wired connection or move closer to your Wi-Fi router, close any other bandwidth-heavy apps (downloads, streaming services in another tab), and avoid opening multiple live rooms at once. If it’s still bad, the issue is between you and our servers — try a different network if you have one.
Q: Why won’t the camera turn on for going live?
Almost always a browser permission. Open the site-settings for lewdden.com in your browser (in Chrome: lock icon in the address bar → Site settings → Camera + Microphone), set both to Allow, then reload the studio page.
Q: I’m on a corporate / school network and the live page won’t load.
Some corporate firewalls block WebRTC traffic (the protocol live streaming uses). If you can access the rest of the site but live is broken, that’s the likely cause. Try a different network for the live-stream sessions.
